Antique Grandfather Clock by Pitt of Tetbury
An excellent oak longcase clock with rare fly dial.
The 8 day duration movement striking the hours on a bell. The arched white dial showing both seconds, date and with matching blued steel hands. The corners and arch painted with roses and foliage and with rare fly/dragonfly decorative detail to the seconds. The oak case with long trunk door with inlaid oval and flanked with canted corners. The plain base with bracket feet. The hood with brass capped reeded mahogany pillars and swan neck top with brass paterae and central brass eagle finial.
Note: John Pitt was a very prolific maker of longcase clocks. He maintained the Tetbury Market House clock from 1816 until 1852.
