Scottish Longcase Clock by Aitchison of Edinburgh
A small and desirable Scottish longcase clock of Regulator style.
The 8 day duration four pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell and features a recoil anchor escapement. The movement has also retained its original brass bound weights and wood rod pendulum. The round silvered brass dial displays both seconds, date and with matching blued steel hands and is signed by the maker to the centre of the dial, James Aitchison of Edinburgh. The plain mahogany veneered case has a glazed trunk door, a single plinth to the plain mahogany base and a very elegant architectural pediment.
A highly collectable longcase clock.
Note: The features of an architectural pediment and glazed trunk door make this particular longcase clock very appealing with either a period or contemporary setting.
